Sod Utd Ulster Tour 1997 Ulster Tour

The above photo was taken during Sod United's tour of Northern Ireland last year. Organised by Mick Ward and Wee Danny the tour was by all accounts a great success. "We partied hard", "We rocked Belfast" were some of the comments to be heard from our Sod Utd friends. Some of the more outspoken in the group, like Joe O'Donnell, added comments like "We stuffed it up the Taigs". Unfortunately for Danny word got out about the tour in his native Belfast and after stiff warnings from Oglaigh na h-Eireann, he wisely decided to cancel his appearance. We were unable to contact him in his San Diego hide-away for comment.

"We played three games in all and won the lot" said Tony Cummins. Asked if they played any Celtic teams the reply was no. "We don't like playing Celtic in pre-season games" added Joe. Mick Ward, who went by the name of "Billy" for the week, was delighted by the outcome of the tour. "To have Dr. Paisley there made it all worthwhile" said Mick "To see Paul Farrelly carry that Union Jack down the Falls Road brought a tear to my eye. There's great heart in this team you know, great heart. We might not keep the Union Jack flying there for another 800 years but by God we'll try". Mick Ward was later voted San Diego Irishman of the year. Now you know why !!.

Sod Celtic would like to thank Mary Murphy, who unknowingly provided us with photos. To Mick Ward for not providing photos and Scouser for not having a team photo. Finally we'd like to wish Sod Utd all the best in their upcoming cup semi-final and may we all get completely langers during the end of season tour to Phoenix!!!!!!
